War

War - By Joe Wolfe

Tools/Resources Used:
Photoshop, Stock Photography, and a Wacom Tablet

About this Piece:
This piece was created for a Photoshop contest. The piece is a battle between Ostriches and Flamingos. I basically thought of the most ridiculous concepts I could and went with it. The Ostriches and Flamingos were all digitally painted with a Wacom tablet and effects in Photoshop. The background is a stock photography picture of a field and blue sky day. The smoke was taken from various photos on the web and altered to fit the composition and color of the piece. The helmets were drawn from actual pictures of helmets and colored with multiple Photoshop effects. This piece if my favorite piece I've ever done, it makes me happy when I look at it.

Good Versus Evil

Good Versus Evil - By Joe Wolfe

Tools/Resources Used:
Photoshop, Kodak Digital Camera, and a Wacom Tablet

About this Piece:
This work is supposed to represent good versus evil. The struggle is displayed through a man, about to do the wrong thing, being confronted by "the good". It is a powerful piece that is supposed to be destructive yet beautiful. I used myself and my friend Matthew Stoner for the piece. I am the one holding the gun and Matt is the person kneeling in front of me. All of the pictures used to create this image were taken by me.

The Terror

The Terror - By Joe Wolfe

Tools/Resources Used:
Photoshop, Stock Photography, and a Wacom Tablet

About this Piece:
The Terror was created for a Halloween based Photoshop contest. The contest was to create the scariest images you could using the photos the contest provided. I created this image using four separate images. Although I failed to win the contest I was proud of my final result. If you view the full size image you will be able to see a better quality of detail than in the thumbnail. This piece ultimately was my shot at trying to make a zombie; I feel I was pretty successful!

The Shay Howe Unicorn Shirt

The Shay Howe Unicorn Shirt - By Joe Wolfe

Tools/Resources Used:
Photoshop, Stock Photography, and a Wacom Tablet

About this Piece:
This design is utterly ridiculous. Shay Howe is a friend of mine and he approached me one day saying that he had a "t-shirt design idea". He grabbed my notebook and drew this very crude sketch of a unicorn stabbing a guy in the chest while dancing on skulls. He told me we wanted the design to look "epic". After about two weeks of working off and on I came up with this. This picture was eventually made into a t-shirt and the design pretty much takes up a majority of space on the front of the t-shirt. I had a lot of fun with this piece. Most of this piece is all hand drawn; I think the only part of the work I used an actual photograph to help create was the skulls. The original of this image is a whopping 36 by 48inch image. I wanted to make sure that when printed it on a t-shirt we could get the best quality imaginable.

Face the Music

Face the Music - By Joe Wolfe

Tools/Resources Used:
Photoshop, Stock Photography, Kodak Digital Camera, and a Wacom Tablet

About this Piece:
Face the Music was created to show the sorrows of suicide. The image represents all the knowledge and memories drifting away as the person kills themself. The piece should invoke sadness and truth in the consequences of ending your life. Of course the person in the picture is me, and the objects flowing out show my personal love for music, nature, and travel.

Hit the Lights Swords Movie Poster

Hit the Lights Swords Movie Poster - By Joe Wolfe

Tools/Resources Used:
Photoshop, and a Kodak Digital Camera

About this Piece:
Hit the Lights is a pop punk band that hails from my hometown of Lima, OH. These guys are longtime friends of mine and during one of their tours they came through Phoenix AZ and paid me a visit. During their visit I had each of them take a picture with my Cloud Buster Sword. I meshed the 6 separate pictures together to create this fake movie poster promo picture for them. This is a great picture because it shows the light hearted fun experience that you will get with Hit the Lights. The challenge of this piece was the fact that it was six different pictures and I had to scale the band members to size and position them in the images to make the composition interesting.

Cohen - The Western Sky is on Fire Digital Album Cover

Cohen - The Western Sky is on Fire Digital Album Cover

Tools/Resources Used:
Photoshop, and an Image Provided by the Band

About this Piece:
This piece was a digital album cover created for my friend Ben Ewen's old band "Cohen". The album was called "The Western Sky is on Fire EP" and was released digitally on ITunes. The band provided me an image and told me to create whatever I could out of it and this is what I came up with. Although the band didn't last much longer after this EP was release it was still a great album. If you can find it somewhere I suggest you give it a listen.

The Python Epidemic USA Poster

The Python Epidemic USA Poster

Tools/Resources Used:
Photoshop, and Stock Photography

About this Piece:
The Python Epidemic was small local band in my hometown. The drummer of the band was my cousin Ryan Hullibarger and his band approached me to create a graphic for them. They wanted to promote themselves as a Southern Rock band and wanted a Southern American Pride type of graphic. So using the concept of America I came up with this poster graphic for them.

The Hollywood Mannequin Factory Poster

The Hollywood Mannequin Factory Poster

Tools/Resources Used:
Photoshop, and Stock Photography

About this Piece:
I had a friend living in LA that joined a band called The Hollywood Mannqeuin Factory. After watching them practice one day I offered to provide them with some graphic design assitance. They had a very dark and ominous sound to them so I wanted to create an graphic for them that would mirror their musical image.

Interior Recreation 3D Model

Interior Recreation 3D Model

Tools/Resources Used:
3D Studio Max, and Photoshop

About this Piece:
In my short stint with 3D modeling I was able to recreate an Asian style living room with 3D Studio Max. This room was probably one of my better 3D modeling achievements. The room was entirely modeled in 3D Studio Max. I used Photoshop to create some of the textures used in the picture. If you look at the picture frames on the walls they all contain pictures of me.

Paper Drama Masks

Paper Drama Masks

Tools/Resources Used:
3D Studio Max

About this Piece:
Here is another 3D modeling example of mine. This model was of two Drama masks: one displaying sadness and the other happiness. The masks are supposed to look like they are made of a hard homemade type of paper.

"Cancer" Sword

Cancer Sword

Tools/Resources Used:
3D Studio Max

About this Piece:
I am a huge fan of RPG video games. Final Fantasy VII is my favorite game of all time. In my younger years I used to sketch characters and weapons in my sketch book frequently. When I started 3D modeling I was excited with the idea that I might be able to recreate some of these old sketches as video game models. This sword which I named "Cancer" is the direct translation from an old sketch into a 3D model.

Desert Wide Properties Holiday Card

Desert Wide Properties Holiday Card

Tools/Resources Used:
Photoshop, and Stock Photography

About this Piece:
Desert Wide Properties is the largest property management company in Arizona. Desert Wide Properties approached me and asked me if I could make them a Holiday card graphic that they could send out to their clients during the holiday to thank them for their business. I tried to keep the card pretty neutral to avoid offending anybody. The funny thing about this card is that it was sent out to a bunch of people in Arizona where they never see snow but snow is a definite indicator of the holidays!
